Welch Allyn has long been recognized by frontline care givers, patients, and medical facilities world-wide but it is especially proud of some of the achievements, honors and awards it has received on numerous occasions from the industry itself. Some of Welch Allyn's most distinguished honors and awards include:

R&D 100 Awards

Called the "Oscars of Invention," this award recognizes annually the most technologically significant new products and processes developed by some of the most prestigious and recognizable companies, research groups, and universities worldwide.

Welch Allyn has received this award four times in seven years for devices including:

 

  • Macroview Otoscope (2005) - Praised as the first major advancement in otoscope design in more than twenty years, the new design of the Welch Allyn Macroview Otoscope gives this device 30 percent more magnification than traditional otoscopes, a nearly full view of the tympanic membrane, and focusable eyepieces.
  • DuraShock Technology (2002) - Turning traditional aneroid sphygmomentry upside down, Welch Allyn's DuraShock technology introduced shock resistant, gear-free, lightweight blood pressure gauges able to withstand drops from up to 60 inches while remaining accurately calibrated. 
  • PanOptic Ophthalmoscope (2002) - With its innovative optical design known as Axial PointSource optics, Welch Allyn's PanOptic Ophthalmoscope was recognized for its fast, easy entry into small, undilated eyes, significantly greater field of view, and a 26 percent increase in magnification for viewing retinal details.  
  • SureSight Vision Screener (2000) - This Welch Allyn device is an accurate, objective vision screener requiring no response form patients, especially effective in detecting refractive errors in infants and children.

Medical Design Excellence Awards

Each year, the Medical Design Excellence Awards honor visionary design and contribution to the advancement of patient care including innovative use of materials, user-related function, enhanced patient benefit, and groundbreaking design and engineering. Welch Allyn was awarded this distinction for:

  • PanOptic Ophthalmoscope (2002)
  • DuraShock technology (2002)
  • SureSight Vision Screener (2002)

Frost & Sullivan

Each year, Frost & Sullivan present awards for outstanding product differentiation and innovation in the marketplace. 

  • Patient monitoring / Propaq LT (2005) - The Propaq LT was recognized for its rugged, lightweight, and compact patient monitoring capabilities which enable it to be used in a number of bedside, transport and ambulatory applications and to be deployable in areas where technical complexity or cost previously made monitoring impossible.
  • Medical Ambulatory Telemetry Monitoring Equipment / Micropaq (2002) - The Micropaq wireless telemetry monitor was recognized as an improvement over conventional telemetry monitoring systems by putting the power of continuous bedside monitoring in a smaller, more portable package than ever before.
